MUSEUM OF THE MOON: LUKE JERRAM’S GIANT ILLUMINATED LUNAR REPLICA ON WORLD TOUR.
There’s a powerful relationship between humans and the illuminated planet. Lunar mythology is the stuff legends are made of. The moon’s round shape is a symbol of gentleness and brightness, expressing our yearnings for beauty.
Luke Jerram is a multidisciplinary UK-based artist who creates sculptures, installations and live art projects. Museum of the Moon is his touring artwork that is being presented at many arts and cultural festivals over the coming years. The installation is a fusion of lunar imagery, moonlight and surround-sound composition.
The moon is a replica of exact lunar imaging from NASA. “I wanted to make the artwork seem as authentic and realistic as possible to give the public the opportunity to fly to the Moon,” explains Jerram. “For most people, this will be their most intimate, personal and closest encounter they will ever have with the Moon.”
