F00die Tips: Montauk Weekend Getaway
By train, by car, or even by bicycle, this picturesque travel destination is a must see this summer. Montauk, New York, a hamlet at the east end of Long Island, is a popular getaway travel destination from New York City.
Here’s our list of restaurants to try during your next visit:
Tiny Harbor Cafe
This Asian-fusion cafe is nestled comfortably in the Montauk docks. With an always changing seafood-based menu including lobster bao, grilled swordfish, and watercress dumplings. Tucked in near the harbor, away from the crowds downtown we highly recommend taking advantage of Montauk’s best kept secret. Additionally, there’s plenty of seating available outside as the days heat up. Stick around after dark to enjoy a beautiful atmosphere accented by dozens of strung lights.
MTK Lobster House
Serving up the staples of Montauk, MTK Lobster House has been in operation since 2018. True to their name, you’ll find lobster rolls, clambakes, burgers to tacos and local beers and wine. They serve a casual menu that’s family friendly and incredibly tasty. MTK Lobster House is conveniently located right on Main Street in the village of Montauk (on the 2nd floor of the Plaza Sports building), and has just opened its second location, “On the Harbor” on Main Street in Sag Harbor.
Montauk Brewing Company
You might have seen these beers in your local specialty shop with the slogan, “Come as you are”. Now come as you are right to their very own tasting room located on South Erie Ave. No reservations required at this fun and friendly brewery. Try all that they have to offer including their new additions of hard seltzers. If you’d rather enjoy at your own leisure, take out is always an option and picking up a six-pack of your favorites is easier than ever.
668 The Gig Shack
Known locally as “The Shack” this family owned and family run restaurant has been serving up Montauk staples and live music for years. Among the preeminent downtown Montauk restaurants, the Global Surf Cuisine stays true to its Montauk roots
yet with a unique international twist. The menu includes local fish tacos, spanakopita, and even confit duck wings.
