John Morgenstern is a West Coast born actor with a knack for marketing and all things social media.
John comes to Blender Workspace with a passionate background in theater and marketing with the drive to tackle any new assignment with care and enthusiasm.

John grew up in the rainy town of Olympia, Washington — just one hour south of the tech and communications hub of Seattle. Always up for a challenge, he pursued higher education at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. His first four years in the bustling metropolis taught him countless life lessons which gave him a vorations dedication to his craft. After graduating in the Spring of 2019, John easily transitioned into the hospitality industry holding various positions at the renowned Off-Broadway theater The McKittrick Hotel.
His free time post-grad was spent discovering new interests and hobbies including writing, design, and directing. One thing led to another, and he was offered a remote position at Blender Workspace as the Social Media Manager and Digital Marketer. To which he replied with an emphatic, “YES!”
We sat down with John Morgenstern to talk about what sparked his interest in Blender Workspace as well as what he gets up to outside of work.
What sparked your interest to Blender Workspace?
The minute I walked got off the elevator and arrived at the space. That’s when I knew I wanted to work here. I was blown away by the decor and vibes. Honestly, I had never seen an office as well designed as Blender. There was such a strong energy of creativity and collaboration that charged the air, and made me feel like I was witnessing the future actualize right in front of my eyes. Everything felt so productive without the stuffy feeling most offices have. I couldn’t help but fantasize about all the different work areas I would use.
What do you like about working at Blender Workspace?
I like that Blender is hospitality focused, and that it’s a small team. Too often businesses lose their human quality which Blender doesn’t struggle with. Everyone here supports one other. There’s a strong team aspect which I really like and thrive in. It’s nice being relatively small, as well. A big part of my job is collaborating back and forth about what content we’re going to promote on our feed. Because we’re small, we have more freedom to explore niche topics and events. It’s really fun getting to discover new things and chat about them with the team.
If you could eat lunch with anyone, departed or living, who would it be? Why?
I think I would want to have lunch with the late Gene Wilder. I’ve always been a fan of his movies since I was young. Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein were some of my dad’s favorites so they were playing quite often. Last year I picked up his audio autobiography which he narrated, and it quickly became one of my comfort listens. He lived such an incredible life, and he speaks with such charm and care. I bet he would make an excellent lunch date.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I’m an actor so a lot of my spare time away from Blender is spent working on that career—auditioning, rehearsing, all of that. When I’m not doing any of that I’m usually reading, playing video games, or playing dungeons and dragons. A lot of my hobbies are pretty nerdy. I’ve been obsessed with Star Wars since I was a little, and I love to read comic books and graphic novels. Both Star Wars content and generic superhero titles. When I want to feel smart I’ll typically crack open a play or poetry book and read that.
Is there a beverage you can’t go without each day?
Coffee. Specifically iced. It tastes way better, and I can drink it fast which is the most important part. Unfortunately, I fall into the cliché category of “don’t talk to me before I’ve had my coffee”. I’m not a morning person at all so that morning pick me up is essential if I’m going to have a productive day.
