Best Fall Weekend Getaways NYC

It’s that time of the year when the weather turns colder and the city gets cozier. Unfortunately, NYC doesn’t offer much to see for the fall season. Luckily, some of the most picturesque views are closer than you think. The season would not be complete without spending a weekend in one of the many rural hamlets that are a quick drive, train or bus ride away. Here are some of our favorite destinations for cozy cottages, boozy vineyards, and pristine glamping.
Catskills, NY
Visit The Catskills
Just a bit over 2 hours by car, this scenic mountain range offers some truly incredible fall views. Some spectacular hikes await you such as the Overlook Mountain trail. It leads to the Instagram-worthy remnants of an unfinished luxury hotel and views of Echo Lake. After the hike, stop by the General Store of Catskill for some locally made bath, body, and wellness products.
Our recommended stay is the Table on Ten, a cozy 3 room inn and restaurant serving wood fired pizzas Friday and Saturday nights.
Hudson Valley, NY

Next in our list of best fall weekend getaways is a glampers paradise. This scenic valley offers some inspiring art galleries and sculpture gardens to peruse before checking into gorgeous pre-set luxury tents. Storm King Art Center offers 500 acres filled with contemporary sculptures and lush foliage. If you’re looking for something more central, a walk down Warren St. in Hudson will have you bouncing from art gallery to antique boutique. Be sure to stop by the Rivertown Lodge for a drink and design inspiration.
The glamping spot to stay is at Collective Hudson Valley. Located on an organic farm, its luxe, low-pitched tents require no setup and are stocked with rustic furnishings and some incredible amenities—like electricity, private bathrooms and 1,500-thread-count sheets.
North Fork, Long Island

Last on our list, North Fork is conveniently located only an hour and a half away from the city. It also boasts some incredible wineries. Try merlots at One Woman Wines and Vineyards, sauvignon blancs at Coffee Pot Cellars, or something bubbly at Sparkling Pointe. All three have tours in addition to incredible tasting options, and no shame if you decide to go to all three.
While North Fork is the ideal day trip, if you want to extend your visit check out Arbor View House B&B. Famous for its lush garden and gourmet breakfast it will have you wanting to stay for the entire weekend.
