Over the last year, the art world has tentatively been refinding its footing, and at long last, ’tis the season to eat, drink and be in Miami. Miami Art Week returns with stacked exhibits at Art Basel, Untitled Art, Design Miami, and Art Miami. Check out our breakdown on each of these events and virtual ways to tune into this iconic cultural event.
Art Basel
Art Basel Miami Beach 2021 (2 – 4 December) will return to the Miami Convention Center for the first time since 2019. The 2021 edition will showcase 253 galleries from 36 countries and territories, 43 of which join for the first time. The fair format remains largely the same (albeit one day shorter than usual), but the emphasis has shifted towards the elevation of underrepresented perspectives. “There’s enormous excitement within the art world on both sides of the Atlantic about Art Basel Miami Beach 2021,” says Marc Spiegler, global director of Art Basel. “Not only because it’s our first fair in two years in the Americas, but also because the show has never before featured such a diverse range of voices.”

In additional to the in-person event, virtual ways to tune in premiere for the first time this year. Art Basel Live includes online viewing rooms, in which galleries present exceptional artworks online; behind-the-scenes insights; and compelling conversations featuring world-class artworld figures. Unfolding on Art Basel’s digital platforms concurrently to our physical shows, Art Basel Live allows you to experience the fair in real time.

Untitled Art
Untitled Art is an innovative and inclusive platform for discovering contemporary art. It balances intellectual integrity with cutting-edge experimentation, refreshing the standard fair model by embracing a unique curatorial approach. Comprising over 145 international contemporary galleries within a custom-built, air-conditioned structure on the beach, the fair connects the best of contemporary art, live events, artist performances and other activations to keep more than 40,000 attendees captive and entertained during Miami Art Week. Additionally, Untitled Art Miami Beach presents a program of curated Special Projects, Podcast Conversations, Monuments, performances and events for the 2021 edition.

Design Miami

Art Miami
Recognized as one of the preeminent international modern and contemporary art fairs globally, Art Miami will showcase an array of iconic and signature investment quality art works, dynamic projects and special installations across more than 140 international galleries from 17 countries representing 60 cities. Additionally, Art Miami’s sister fair, CONTEXT Art Miami will return for its 9th edition with 61 international galleries. The line-up will present the finest quality paintings, photography, prints, drawings, design, sculpture and video art, with works from the 20th and 21st centuries. The fair will feature leading international galleries showcasing renowned modern masters and blue- chip contemporary works, as well as the most sought-after living artists from around the world.
Additionally, the public will be able to browse and purchase works from Art Miami | CONTEXT +Online, a curated digital exhibition offering dedicated state-of-the-art acquisition rooms which will run concurrent with the in-person fairs.
